We are school teachers with a 15 year old daughter who love to travel! Our home is located in a quiet rural neighborhood on a 5 acre wooded lot. It sleeps 6-7, non-smokers only please. Three bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, large deck with hot tub, full kitchen, A/C, wireless internet, laundry. Car, canoe and bicycles available.
Attractions: -Center of Civil War history: Harpers Ferry National Historic Park is 5 minutes away, Gettysburg, Antietam, and the C&O Canal a quick drive. -Washington D.C. and Baltimore are easy day trips and can be reached by car in 1&1/4 hour or by commuter train from Harpers Ferry. -The Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers merge at Harpers Ferry; canoeing, whitewater rafting and kayaking are popular. -The Appalachian Trail also passes through Harpers Ferry for great hiking opportunities. Hiking and bicycling are popular on the C&O Canal towpath, only 10 minutes away. A bicycle rail trail to D.C. is 1/2 hr. away. -Charles Town Races is 10 minutes away and offers live horse racing and a large casino with slot machines -Shepherdstown (10 min) and Frederick, MD (30 min) are college towns with wonderful restaurants and quaint gift and antique shops. -1&1/4 hour to Washington [WAS]and Baltimore airports, and 1 hour to Dulles International Airport [IAD]. |
